Online groceries and curbside pick-up is where it’s at these days. Am I right? Just Kidding.
It’s not trendy to get your groceries dropped off or pick them up while staying in your car but, it has made things a tad bit easier these days. Less time walking around the store and more time doing what you actually want to be doing.
How does this relate to getting more points? Simple. Shopping portals!!
These are all the rage in the points world, because you can get airline status without even flying!
What’s a shopping portal? It is simply a way to track your order and allow it to earn airline miles based on the multiplier for that specific store.
For example, the AAdvantage Eshopping portal has Petsmart, some days its 4 miles / per 1$ spent while other days its up to 8 miles / per 1$ spent. The amount of points received is calculated pre-tax amount so if your order subtotal is $75.87 you would receive 607 miles, vs 76 miles using your credit card at a 1:1 ratio. This was calculated using the higher 8 miles per dollar offer.
Don’t have a pet? Well there’s many other choices on the various shopping portals including Sephora, Macy’s, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowe’s, CVS and the list goes on. Granted it can be an extra step that you may not want to deal with but if you are highly interested in earning more points on your everyday spend this is the way.
Don’t take my word for it check it out yourself, I’ll list them below:
American Airlines - aadvantageeshopping.com
United Airlines MileagePlus Shopping – shopping.mileageplus.com
British Airways – shopping.ba.com
Alaska Mileage Plan – mileageplanshopping.com
These are just a few airline shopping portals I like to use; say you want to earn more chase ultimate rewards or capital one miles well yup you guessed it they have their own shopping portals as well.
Simply login to your chase mobile banking app, or login at: ultimaterewardspoints.chase.com
For Capital One you would log in at: capitaloneshopping.com
These bank portals offer similar and sometimes identical stores to choose from. You’ll notice though that if you searched each portal at any given time the number of points earning will vary.
If like me you are always ready for a vacation on points, you’ll definitely want to use this avenue of accruing more points at a higher interval and faster rate. This way you can stack up your various point systems and be ready to book a deal when you find one.
At the beginning I mentioned airline status, well if you fly American Airlines or Alaska Airlines you can use the shopping portals to get you enough “loyalty points” to get you all of the tiered statuses offered. From Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, and Executive Platinum all earned on loyalty points. Think flights, hotels, aadvantage dining participating restuarants and credit card spend. And the more points you earn the more access to awards you will unlock specifically with American Airlines and their partner Hyatt.
These two programs matched together offer many milestone awards that could prove useful to you if you are a loyalist to these specific programs.
So, do you think you want to earn more points this way?
